I’ve never really had any data that was so incredibly important that it needed to withstand extreme conditions. However, if you find yourself regularly transporting sensitive material that is irreplaceable you might want to pick up the Lacie XtremKey. It can handle a whole lot more than just a little water.

The Sansa Fuze from SanDisk, is a cool little MP3/4 player along the same vein as the iPod Nano. We’ve recently been sent one to play with so here are our thoughts and findings (or a review so to speak).
Aesthetically the Fuze is a cute little player. The physical UI consists of a rotating front dial which also acts as the 4 navigation buttons with the center button for selection. The display crisp with a resolution of 220 x 176, large enough for watching the odd music video but you wouldn’t want to watch a feature length film on it. Sound quality was good (though as with just about any MP3 player the supplied headphones aren’t the greatest). What most impressed me about the Fuze are the extra features that you don’t find on other (note iPod) players, including:
Built in microphone FM radio microSD Slot, a really cheap way to expand the capacity Easy to transfer files (drag and drop) without the need of propriety software
Though there are a few downsides:
Propriety USB connection, it obviously comes the cable but a standard mini USB connection would be much more convenient especially for charging You bookmark videos but not audio books
The Fuze comes in 2, 4 and 8GB versions with prices starting from ~$70 at Amazon.

How big a USB thumb drive do you need? 1GB? 6GB, maybe? Well, the new Kingston DataTraveler can hold a whopping 256GB, larger than many laptop hard drives.
Of course, if you want to be able to carry that much data around in your pocket, it’s going to cost you. The current price for one of these things is a whopping $836.38. But don’t worry, eventually, the price will drop. You know, as soon as the 2TB thumb drives come out.

“Green” electronic products are extremely popular nowadays, since more and more people are becoming aware of the major environmental issues of our planet and actually try to do something about it. And that’s exactly the case with the EarthDrive USB flash drive from ATP, a device that really screams “green,” starting with its packaging and ending with the material it’s built from.

ATP Inc. is a well-known manufacturer of all sorts of memory products, whether we’re talking about Flash memory or DRAM. However, with the EarthDrive, it has managed to create a product that’s entirely bio-recyclable, manufactured from a biodegradable polyester derived from renewable resources, and which still manages to carry out its external storage functions very well.
Moreover, the company seems to have taken this eco-friendly approach even further, since it’s actually donating a hefty portion of the EarthDrive’s sales towards the planting of new trees across the world, which is indeed a noteworthy decision, especially given the fact that relatively few technology firms prove their commitment to the environment in such a manner.
Design and aesthetics
Overall design features
Design-wise, the EarthDrive is somewhat different from the numerous devices of this type available on the market. First of all, it’s extremely small (it measures just 35.7 mm x 23.3 mm x 10.31 mm), which means that you really won’t have any problems carrying it around. However, since such a small size might make it prone to loss/misplacement, the device also sports a small hole in the upper side, which can be used for attaching the drive either to the lanyard provided in the package or even to something more solid, like a backpack, bag, etc.
